It’s been scientifically proven that if you take the time each day to write down three things for which you are grateful, your happiness will increase by 15 percent. If you reach out and personally thank someone you are grateful to, that feeling can last for a whole month. So in this month of giving thanks, we would like to say ‘thank you’ to you.
Who knew that a company, community, and the realization of a dream could come from a trip to the ladies washroom. It was in early May 2018 when we decided we wanted to transform from a production company for hire, to producing content that inspired us. Our dream was to create a community that shared our passion for collaboration: a place where women celebrated and elevated each other. Once we had the idea, we needed a name. When you are entrepreneurs without an office you learn to multi-task, so we scheduled the removal of our snow tires at the same garage on the same day, and used the waiting time to brainstorm.
The struggle with coming up with a name is you also need an available domain. One of our favourite shows from the 90’s had been ‘Women On Top’, an hour-long documentary series about women entrepreneurs. That domain was unavailable, so we played around with it and came up with “She’s On Top.” It was cheeky, provocative, and (we like to think) very much like us. Now all we needed was a logo. A few cups of coffee later, a quick trip to the ladies room was needed, and voila! The universal symbol for female on the door became the center of our new logo.
It’s been two years, and a lot has happened since. We’ve listened, adapted, and transformed into a community that we never could have imagined when we first started down our own yellow brick road. We are so grateful for the amazing women that we have had the joy of interviewing, who have inspired us, and made us laugh. They have shared their stories of struggle, ups and downs, bumps and bruises and eventual triumph. We’ve learned that the journey to creating a meaningful life is never-ending, and it’s a lot more fun when you have company. We are also grateful for the amazing men in our lives who have cheered us on and supported our vision.
Today we are thrilled to announce the next phase of growing this community, the launch of our MEMBERSHIP.
With gratitude, Jessica and Tracy

What’s inspiring us
Enola Holmes is a joy! It’s a fantastic story about Sherlock’s younger sister, with a wonderful and universal message. In the words of Enola’s mother, played by the spirited Helena Bonham Carter, “There are two paths you can take Enola, yours or the path others choose for you.”
It’s the type of film where you really get the sense that the entire cast is having a great time, which is the secret ingredient that can lift a film to the next level. It certainly had us smiling from beginning to end.
We loved “A Man Called Ove,” by the best-selling Swedish author Fredrik Backman. It was so good that it was turned into a movie, and now his latest novel “Anxious People” is out and we can’t put it down. Backman is a master of writing delightful, insightful, soulful, character-driven narratives. Nothing happens in Fredrik Backman’s latest novel that’s even likely – and yet, as this quirky story unfolds, it’s collection of misfit characters emerge, and gradually become truer than life itself. Rich with Backman’s “pitch-perfect dialogue and an unparalleled understanding of human nature”, Anxious People’s whimsical plot serves up unforgettable insights into the human condition, and offers a gentle reminder to be compassionate to all the anxious people we encounter every day.
Many of us have a statue or sculpture of Buddha in our homes, but how many of us really know the story of Buddha?. Did you know he was born to a Royal Family, and how did he come to be? In this episode of The Happiness Lab, Dr. Laurie Santos talks about how Buddha was shocked to learn that no amount of power or money could keep unhappiness at bay forever, and how that became the founding principal of Buddhism.
