throw your dreams into space like a kite, and you do not know what it will bring back, a new life, a new friend, a new love, a new country.” anais nin

In September of 2021 I packed up my life and my dog into my car and drove across the country to start a new life.

An opportunity came up for me to live in a house overlooking the ocean on an island. The idea was scary but I knew if I didn’t go I would regret it for the rest of my life. My therapist’s favourite quote is, “Have you had any terrible successes lately?”  What does that mean?

To me it means that transformation is hard, challenging and often painful. It may mean leaving most of what you love and know behind.

Before launching She’s on Top I had spent 20 years of my life as a television writer, director, producer and eventually an executive producer. I thought that is how I would spend my life but at my core my passion is storytelling,  and several years ago it became apparent that the most innovative platform for that was in the digital world.

When She’s on Top launched I knew nothing about social media or being an entrepreneur for that matter, but after years of learning, research and talking to dozens of successful female entrepreneurs I have learned a thing or two.

Creating a life you love has as many challenges as it does rewards, and where you started out usually looks nothing like where you end up. It can be lonely and scary and vulnerable, as much as it is exhilarating and joyful, and it helps to have friends who get it.

That is how the She’s on Top membership came to be. We are a community of women who celebrate and elevate each other. We share the challenges, support and inspire one another. We also have a lot of fun.

In the end I believe the only success is to live yourself out. To get to the end of your life and not have any “what if’s” hanging in the air. In the meantime, enjoy the ride.
